A wish

I wanted to be the reason for your smile
I didn't want to be the cause for your tears
I wanted to be the reason for your joy
I didn't want to be the cause for your blues...

I stayed beside you as long as you needed me...
But you had a wish, a wish to leave me,
And I left away silently for your smile..
Even though you are not with me...
I know I am not alone,
There are memories of you
Always following me...
Always haunting me...
Every day, every night....
Perhaps every moment I breathe...

This is a story about how it all began our travel, me along with my pal, through the Erasmus Exchange Program. It was indeed kind of lucky to me as an international student in my university in Finland (Lappeenranta University of Technology) for having the opportunity to participate in the Exchange program, since earlier it was only limited to the Finnish students in LUT. But it all happened from our batch of 2011 onward that internationsl students can participate in Erasmus exchange program, so I finally decided to move for the following semester (i.e. Spring of 2012) to University of Miskolc in Hungary as I had limited few options to choose from since there were few universities for faculty of Mechanical Engineering where I could have the courses taught in English. All I had to do was to fill up some online application for exchange program & it was made quite easy with assistance of  Ms. Kaisa Nikku, the exchange program coordinator in the international office in LUT. The course that I selected from University of Miskolc were to be approved by the head of department from Mechanical Engineering.  And, the formality of application was quite swiftly done with the help of Ms.Kaisa. Then after the receipt of Learning Agreement from the Host University started the process of Resident Permit. So, then came little appointments & date of meeting in the Hungarian Embassy in Helsinki but anyway it was also done quite easily and we were supposed to collect our resident permit from Hungary itself. And, finally after the end of our Autumn semester & start of Spring came the time to move to Hungary. We were looking for the cheap air flights to Budapest but there were no direct flight to Budapest from Finland so we decided to book flight from Lappeenranta to Brussels and then a connecting flight to Budapest. And, we booked the tickets almost a month before our departure just to make sure we won't have to pay sky rocketing price for the flight at end moment.

So, on the fateful day of February the 4th, me along with my mate (Rabindra Dhungana) left from Lappeenranta for Budapest in Hungary. The tutor of Rabindra, Helga Pitty along with his brother Oliver Pitty were present at the railway station to pick us up. It was the first relief that we had after this tiresome travel. And, reached the University of Miskolc on the 5th & reached our accomodation just near to University and it was called Uni-Hotel.

There we met quite lot of Erasmus friends who already reached before us or were from last semester & it was good feeling infact for us in an alien land, with so many smiling faces start greeting & welcome you.

The very next day on the 6th was the orientation program and had to reach university by 1 p.m., where we had to meet the International Student Coordinator at University of Miskolc. She gave us the general idea & introduction about the system of study & about the Hungarian culture & places. The essential guidelines we received were the registration of courses before the due date (almost a month), report to immigration office for collecting resident permit, payment of hostel deposit money and timely payment of rent, temporary student card for long journey travel discount, University rules etc.

There were various trips and events organized by the team of ESN Miskolc. The first that we had was the Team Building Party at Kettes club very near to Uni-Hotel . The tutors and the new Erasmus students were present along with some fun games and free drinks.

On 24th of Febraury there was this local festival celebrated in Miskolc, called "Meat Jelly festival". So we went to the city center by bus to see this festival. There were lot of vendors selling meat jelly along the street during this festival.

We had an international day (foreign exchange day) organized by ESN Miskolc, BEST, AISEC, IAESTE in the university of Miskoc. The idea was to prepare the food from various countries and display at various stalls. There were too many curious people wanting to taste the flavor from different countries. So, we had also prepared some traditional food from Nepal, although not a good cook, Google and Youtube helped me a lot to make some food.

Later on 24th of March, there was a trip organized by ESN Miskolc to a town nearby Miskolc (around 80 km ) called Eger. The town of Eger bear historic importance and there were castles and forts. We did some sight seeing of the town, went to basilica, famous minaret build by Turkish during Turkish invasion of Hungary, Dobo's square, Marzipan Museum etc.
